Send a binding-quote request straight to an active carrier from the property report, then track it to close.
Who this is for: buyers who want a quote, and agents/brokers placing coverage for a client. Where: the Request a quote action on a property (/properties/:id). Time: ~2 min.
Steps
- Open the property report and confirm the Active Carriers panel shows carriers
actively writing/binding in that market.
- Click Request a quote.
- Fill in the request details. The AI can suggest quote-request details for the
property to pre-fill the form — review and adjust.
- Submit. The request is delivered to the brokerage intake, you get a confirmation,
and the request row moves from PENDING → SENT.
What happens next — the status timeline
Every quote request keeps a full status history, not just a single status. The timeline advances as the request is created, delivered to the carrier, updated by you, and reported back on by the carrier or broker.
- You can view and update your requests from the property's quote list, or your
dashboard's aging-quotes surface.
- Carriers and brokers report status updates back to CoverGuard (via the partner API),
which the timeline records. Status only moves forward — an out-of-order update is rejected so the history stays trustworthy.
The dashboard's "Do next" surfaces aging quotes so nothing stalls silently.
Requirements
- Requesting a quote is a paid-tier feature. On the free tier you'll see an upgrade
prompt.
- You must have accepted terms (onboarding) and be signed in.
Troubleshooting
- "Request a quote" is locked → it needs a paid plan. See
- No carriers to request from → the market may be hard to place, or risk data is still
computing; read the insurability note. See Search & reports.
- A status update was rejected → the timeline is forward-only; a request can't move
backward through states. See Integrations & API.
Do this next
Watch your requests through to close, and set up alerts so renewals and carrier exits don't catch you off guard.
